Any discomfort you will experience in your life comes from fear. Fear is a choice. At any time, no matter how deep and dark the fear may seem to take you, you can choose again, you can choose to see this differently. These questions never lose their potency. There is never an instance where doing this worksheet will not allow you to show yourself all the answers that you need. The fear-based thoughts are not who you are naturally, they're simply habits. My Iyengar teacher, Adam Vittolo taught me - habits are the opposite of consciousness. Use this worksheet to shine conscious light onto what you think is broken. "Miracles are seen in light." - A Course in Miracles. I hope these questions continue to serve you as much as they have served me. (I credit these questions to my longtime teacher, Gabrielle Bernstein).
What is the fear based story from my past that is blocking me?
In what ways does this story keep me from stepping into my role as an artist?
How do I compare myself to others?
How do I judge myself and my practice?
When I think about this fear story, and how it holds me back, what does it feel like? (Get specific, list emotions e.g. anxious, sensations e.g. nauseous, does fear have a color? A shape? A smell? A location in your body? By getting clear about the weight of this fear you've been carrying around you'll be all the more ready to release it)
Put your feet on the floor. Commit to fifteen deep breaths to getting in touch with your fear. Walk into the shadows, feel all the feels completely. Let them overwhelm you, consciously step into the discomfort. Recognize the weight you have been carrying around with you this whole time. Breathe deeper and deeper into the feelings. After your fifteenth exhale, breathe massively in through the nose and exhale forcefully through your mouth, like a lion's roar. Do this three times, imagining each exhale clearing out more interior space. Say to yourself, I choose to release this fear. I am willing to see things differently. When you open your eyes, shake your hands vigorously. Shake your head, your feet, dance around, do whatever you need to! SHAKE THAT SHIT OFF! Give yourself about a minute, and then come back down to earth, and we'll wrap this up. So fifteen breaths to feel fear, three clearing breaths to release, and one minute of shaking it up to shift the energy.
Sit back down. Notice the difference in your body.
Alright! Breathe. Few more questions.
In what ways have I overcome fear to become the person that I am today?
How can my work serve others?
Who can my work serve?
