This is a 10-15 minute, stream of conscious writing exercise designed to get you in touch with what you believe in. Whether you do spiritual work or not, knowing what you believe in is vital. I use God now because it's the shortest word and I talk about this a lot, but before then I used Dark Matter, which I recommend if you can't think of one. A force you can't see that makes up over a quarter of all of the mass and energy of the observable universe, keeping you alive and safe? Sounds about right...
Now, grab a pen and paper, Voice Memos, or Notes, and find out what your higher power can do for you. You're going to give yourself only about 15 seconds to answer each question, don't overthink it.
as taught to me by Gabby Bernstein
What does a higher power mean to you? What does it mean to rely on a higher power? What does it feel like when you are connected to the presence of a higher power? How do you experience your connection to higher power? Smells? Sound? Synchronicity? 11:11? Imagine a world where you're in constant contact with your higher power. What does it feel like? What blocks you from this connection? When do you feel most connected? When things are not flowing, and difficult - what is your higher power trying to tell you?
Now, you're going to look over all of your answers that you wrote up there, and highlight some of the things that stood out to you most, things that made you feel good, supported, and more aware. With this information, you're going to start to craft your higher power statement. To give you an idea, here's mine:
I believe in an infinite source of love and intelligence in and around each of us, that we can choose to connect to at any time. When I am faced with difficulty, I can ask for help and I receive it unconditionally. Through joy, stillness, and prayer I can reconnect with my source at any time. When I am connected I am aware of the presence of this source energy in all things, and it brings me an enormous sense of peace.
It can be as simple as "God is love." or "I am peace." . Either way, write your statement and put it in your wallet, or as the background on your phone. I can't tell you how helpful it can be to know that something bigger than you is watching out for you, because it cares about you.
These are some of the exercises that I go through with each of my clients to help them find a deeper sense of peace and meaning in their lives. They are offered here free of charge, so you can start transforming your life, now.
