Wild idea, right?
Imagine that you just pulled up your iPhone, wrote "success" into the Google maps, and got given a clear path that you simply had to follow in order to reach your destination? ADDITIONALLY: what if it was the most beautiful route ever, your absolute favorite in the world? What if I told you that you already possessed this magical GPS.... watch this Periscope, or read the text!
I'm not kidding! It's totally true!
Your destiny is sealed, certain, and perfect. It has been written out for you as a balanced cycle that is tailor made to bring you (YES YOU) the maximum amount of happiness. Those childhood dreams you had? FOR A REASON! Foreshadowing what's on the horizon. Exciting, right?
"Well if that's what's possible why is my life so crappy?"
Because you fell off the path. You got distracted by something. Things started to unravel, you started trying to control everything, it wasn't working and you got frustrated, the "signs" (if you can even go there) were everywhere. Sometimes it starts small: A flat bike tire followed by three days of no train makes you late to work four days in a row(the message: don't be at this job). If you don't pull things back into alignment, it starts to snowball. Money starts to suck. Relationships start to suck. "Do I really have to do this job for the rest of my life" starts in, and that sucks.
So how do you get back on the path to success?
the million dollar coaching secret. I'll give it away cause no one else is.
Joy is the GPS. Because Joy is your final destination, it's like following a creek to the river. Little trickles of it here and there will lead you to the source!***Disclaimer: If you're currently embroiled in an addiction, know that the addiction doesn't bring you joy. So if you're an alkie like me you can't say "drinking spicy margaritas in the sun all day brings me so much joy!" .But if you have a relationship with alcohol so positive you never feel bad about it for a second, by all means, drink one for me!
Joy will naturally bring you back to the path towards true happiness and success. You can expedite this process by asking yourself "what would bring me the most joy" EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A DECISION.
what jeans do you want to wear = joy
sugar in your coffee? = joy
respond to that text? = joy
By using joy as the compass with which to choose your direction, you can see it's effectiveness and trust it when it comes to making big decisions, like "do I take this job or not" .
So what if you have to do something you don't like, like go to work.
Yeah, work sucks unless you're doing what you're truly meant to be (contact me if you're stuck here) . So when it comes time to do something you're not so excited about, how can you make it as joyful as possible? Do you treat yourself to an excellent lunch? Avoid the argument you were invited to? do you wear your DGAF pants? How can you make any experience as joyful as possible for yourself?
Try this for one week. Try only doing things based off what brings you joy. Assess every day, because what makes you joyful one day (a long run) may not the next day (restorative yoga). Write "joy" on your hand. Make every decision as joyful as possible, and see what happens.
Joy= success. the sooner you can accept that, the sooner you can stop surviving and start thriving!
